Yannick Nézet-Séguin's style of conducting certainly was a Mark DeVoto describes it. I wondered if maybe it was more useful with ensembles of the type he has been conducting heretofore. At any rate, as I watched and listened to the concert on Thursday, February 26, I had the feeling his gestures were intended for the orchestra (unlike, say, Sir Roger Norrington who, on the few occasions I have seen him, seemed to be putting on a show for the audience). I join Mr. DeVoto in hoping for return engagements for Mr. Nézet-Séguin.
